KSS Design Group is delighted to announce that it is part of St. Modwen Properties' competition winning team for the £100m redevelopment of the Regis and Hothampton sites in the centre of Bognor Regis. Other members of the team include Hyland Edgar Driver, Halcrow and DBK Back
The £100m mixed use regeneration scheme will include a new civic core at the Regis "healthy living" site incorporating county council offices, citizens advice bureau, health centre and library, and new cultural and leisure facilities at the Hothampton "leisure heart" site including art centre, multiplex cinema, ten pin bowling and bingo hall. The two sites will also include new residential units, and the promenade that links them will be revitalised with new shopping and dining experiences.
The regeneration of these two key town centre sites will offer exciting architectural possibilities for landmark and gateway architecture, and the master plan proposals seek to create a sense of arrival at the town centre with new civic buildings, and much needed vibrancy to the seafront.
The competition presentations to Arun District Council and the public in April 2006 generated a high level of local interest and a positive response to the master plan proposals. The St. Modwen submission received the strongest support amongst the entries, with many people particularly liking the modern approach, openness and mixed provision of the scheme.
The design team will be assisting St. Modwen in the progression of the development agreement, and consulting with Arun District Council and other key stakeholders over the next nine months. A planning application is expected to be submitted for the whole master plan during the latter months of 2007.
