Driving rain and a strong southerly wind proved no obstacles to all the runners in this year's Bognor Prom 10K Road Race.
The popular local event again attracted a record breaking number of entries, due to the increase in marshaling at the finish line. There were well over 1200 finishers this year.
The men's race was won by last year's winner Matthew Normington of Herne Hill Harrier in a (slower this year) time of 32:08. Local hero James Baker of Chichester Runners dropped to third this year with a time of 32:55, 25 seconds down on last year. Race debutant Iain Lockett finished second in 32:23 making it a 1-2 for Herne Hill Harriers.
The ladies race also saw two of last year's top three repeat their battle for the top spot. Julie Briggs of Arena 80 AC could not repeat her 2005 victory and finished second in a time of 37:07 despite recording a faster time than last year. She was first in the over 35 category. The race was won by Chichester Runners' Linda Spencer in 36:12, repeating her 2003 victory. Karrie Blake of Denmead Striders was third in 39:19, again an improvement on last year's time.
Provisional race results are available here.
