Restaurant Review: China Royal

03/12/03 - by Jez

The speciality of the China Royal is an "all you can eat" menu for only £12.50 per person, and at that price you'd kind of expect that the food would be "cooked to a price". Not a bit of it.

Food is of a high standard, for example I had a dish containing squid which was delicious and not at all rubbery. They don't let you go mad and order the entire menu in one go - not unreasonable when you consider the deal on offer. We ordered 6 or 7 dishes between four of us and once we'd eaten those a couple more saw us full to the point of burtsting. We didn't skimp on the starters (included in the price) either.

The menu is extremely comprehensive, although possibly a bit sparse for strict vegetarians.

Those with a sweet tooth won't be disappointed, however the sweets are not part of the all you can eat menu.

The only catch is probably the price of drinks which although not excessive are probably more expensive than you might expect compared to the price of the meal.

Overall the China Royal provides good food and good value. Recommended.
