In the absence of the Chairman, Vince McCabe took the chair.

  1. Matters Arising Guy Parfect detailed some changes he wanted made to the minutes of the previous meeting. These changes had been incorporated into the official version, but had only been received by the Secretary after the Minutes had been distributed.

  2. Report from Steering Group KR reported on the formation and work of the Design Sub-Group, and feedback from the Design Workshops on 10th May. GP detailed the Low Speed Zone - Amberley Drive, Hawthorn Road, Linden Road, Hillsboro Road, Town Cross Avenue, Essex Road, Murina Avenue, Mons Avenue, Collyer Avenue, Hampshire Avenue, Kenilworth Road, Mayfield Road, Waverley Road, Northcote Road, Ivydale Road, Pevensey Road, Arun Road, Frith Road, Westloats Lane, Hatherleigh Gardens, Greencourt Drive, Nor'Bren Avenue, Central Avenue, Newtown Avenue, and Bedford Avenue. Speed reduction would be achieved by different means in different streets including electronic sign boards. WSCC has the responsibility for the measures after consultation. Sgt. Flint explained the different types of electronic speed control.

  3. Name Change It was agreed that the new name of the CPG should include "Pevensey Ward" and "Environment". ML, VM, & RB are to meet outside of this Group to chose four suggestions to bring to the next meeting for final vote.

  4. Nomination of Vice-Chair Mr Ronald Black was elected as Vice Chair.

  5. CPG Constitution VM gave details of a website where information ia available for constitutions, suggesting CPG designs its own after reading the information found on the website (www.rav.co.uk).

  6. Social Event VM will organise a social event for the last week in July. SRA will fund a raffle prize to the value of £50.

  7. Low Speed Zone Construction of the Low Speed Zone will be prioritised on streets immediately surrounding the Home Zone streets and school access points. So far the ideas and ways of proceeding have been discussed under the national concept of "Beautiful Roads". This employs mature planting and coloured surfaces, etc., to achieve speed reduction.

At the end of July a letter will be sent out detailing the suggestions for the first priority streetsthose which are the closest to the Home Zone. It is intended that the Community (residents) will maintain the finished project. RB asked for the surface colours offerings to be made available to group members for evaluation and comment. GP listed the streets included as "Core Area" of Low Speed Zone.

  8. Information Pack GP circulated a draft information pack for distribution to new residents moving into the area by street reps. The intention of this pack is to provide the background to the schemes, provide up-to-date status information, and draw attention to the new responsibilities of residents of the area. The Group were impressed and arrangements will be made to produce this in sufficient quantities to supply to street reps.

  9. Any Other Business VM stated a need to re-establish contact with street reps. and recruit more to represent currently unrepresented streets. RB asked whether the group should try to encourage people to become more involved with the Low Speed Zone.

  10. Date of Next Meeting the date of the next meeting was set for 16th July but the schools have an open evening which conflicts with this, so the CPG meeting has been moved to the next week - Wednesday 23rd July, at 7.00 pm. Please also note that the venue for this meeting is the Bognor Rugby Club, Hampshire Avenue.
