I attach a chart showing the results of the voting by residents of Gravits
Lane and Ivydale Road as to whether they wished to proceed with the design
process to implement a Home Zone in their street. As you can see, there is
now an overwhelming majority in favour of the home zone. This exceeds the
very rigorous criterion set at the most recent steering group meeting of
75% of all households in the affected parts of these streets to return a
positive response. Only 4 households voted against.
Accordingly, arrangements are now being made for the first design workshops
with residents, to take place on the evening of Monday 10 March and the
morning of Tuesday 11 March. These workshops will discuss ideas for an
outline conceptual design for the street. They will be led by urban
designer Joe Marchant of Lacey Hickie Caley consultants. Staff of Social
Research Associates and West Sussex County Council will also be present to
facilitate and assist.
Invitations to attend the workshops will be sent out to home zone residents
and the relevant interested parties once the details of venue and times
have been confirmed.
These will be the first in a programme of workshops and other consultation
& participation events as we move through the design process over the
following months.
