1. Matters Arising

  • The Chairman opened the meeting by announcing the resignation from the Group of Sarah Westwood. In her letter, however, she had expressed her desire to participate in other ways - such as the distribution of leaflets, etc., for which the Chairman thanked her.

  • The Chairman also welcomed the new members to the Group who had joined since the last meeting.

2. Results of Committee voting process - New Committee members

  • Guy Parfect announced the results of the ballot held to elect the "officers" of the committee, e.g. Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Steering Group Liason member.

  • All properties in the Home Zone and Low Speed Zone area had been sent a leaflet (the same leaflet shown to CPG members at the last meeting) and a voting card on which the names of the temporary committee members were printed together with voting options for each. 87 voting cards were returned completed. 90% of these voters supported the names on the card. Therefore the temporary acting officers were duly elected as permanent post-holders until the next committee elections.

  • In addition 11 new names volunteered their services to the committee and were welcomed as new members under item 1 above.

3. Results of Home Zone Voting

  • Guy Parfect announced that since the last CPG meeting a "Street" meeting had been held with open invitation to all residents of Gravits Lane and those in the part of Ivydale Road which had been selected to be the Home Zone streets. At that meeting the whole concept of a Home Zone had been presented with sample designs, pictures, etc., used in Home Zone schemes elsewhere. Following that meeting all residents in the proposed Home Zone streets were sent a voting card giving them three options. The results to date were:-
    • 71% are in favour of the scheme
    • 2% are against the scheme
    • 6% are not bothered
