About The Race

A flat, high speed course which has been awarded a Silver grading by UKA.

Starting by West Park in Aldwick (where there is extensive free car parking for competitors) the course follows the Bognor Regis Esplanade, through the village of Felpham to return along the entire length of the Bognor Prom to finish in West Park. It is a flat course with height undulation of less than 2 metres, water is available at 5.5K and the finish. A rolling road closure operates except on the Prom .

Unfortunately there are no changing or bag storage facilities. Due to a sharp incline up to the Promenade at the return point the course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and competitors are not allowed to run with dogs or be accompanied by cyclists or other wheeled carriages.

10th Anniversary

Ten years ago Ken Dean a keen runner and member of the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham had the idea of starting a road race in Bognor Regis using the Promenade.

Hard work by him and a team of five runners from the same Club succeeded in founding the Bognor Prom 10k in 1995. Most of those team members are still involved in organising the event but as a special 10th anniversary "concession" they will be actually taking part.

The Bognor Regis Observer and Minerva Accord have been our main sponsors over the years but many others have made outstanding contributions to the success of the event and are acknowledged in this anniversary edition.

Unsung heroes have been the members of the volunteer Special Constables from Bognor Police Station who have ensured the safety of competitors. They are always looking for recruits will be pleased to hear from anyone interested in joining.

We offer regular training sessions through Rotary Road Runners a small but keen group of runners who meet weekly on Thursdays at 7pm in West Park. Anyone wishing to join them, regardless of ability, will be welcome just turn up.

The Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham and The Rotary Club of Bognor Regis are part of the world-wide organisation known as Rotary International, a world-wide fellowship of men and women united in the ideal of service.

Internationally, Rotary has been responsible over the years for raising millions of pounds for such projects as eliminating polio throughout the world. Locally, Rotary exists to encourage community service and the Bognor Prom 10k is a major part of its annual programme.

This event raises much needed funds for local causes whilst providing the people of Bognor Regis, and West Sussex with a major occasion, fostering goodwill and a sense of involvement in a local activity
