Bognor Lawn Tennis Club is situated in Nyewood Lane, near to the
Bognor Football Club. It has five all-weather hard courts, two of which are
floodlit, and four top quality grass courts. Membership is open to all ages
and abilities, including juniors, and the Club offers a range of tennis and
social activities.
Three ladies and two men's teams compete in the Sussex
County tennis leagues throughout the year and in the summer season the Club
fields a mixed doubles veteran's team. The Club Tournament, which takes place
in the summer months with a Final's Day in July, gives Members a further
opportunity for competitive play.
Regular "Fun" Tournaments are organised
for members throughout the year, and players from around the Southern Counties
are invited to take part in a Ladies Open Tournament in July and a Mixed Open
Tournament in September.
Juniors from Clubs around Sussex visit the Club in
August - August 13th 2003 - to take part in an LTA Starter Tournament. A number of members also
play Croquet, a recent addition that is rapidly gaining in popularity. Social
events are held during the year, including Bridge and Skittles Evenings,
Race Nights and a Christmas Dinner Dance.
An Open Day is held early in May - May 10th 2003 -
when members of the public have the opportunity to inspect and use the
facilities.

Grass courts open three weeks early! As a result of the unseasonably good April weather, Groundsman John was able to announce that the Club's four grass courts would be open for Club play on Saturday April 19th. Members, who had been looking forward to the opening of the grass courts with eager anticipation, were delighted to able to play on their favourite surface for the first time this year. All hope that this was just the first of many sunny summer Saturday afternoons spent on Bognor's finest sporting lawn! Sounds like fun? Why not come along on one of your Saturday afternoons and join us for a set or two? You will be made very welcome!
The Club has embarked upon a project to resurface two of its five hard courts, possibly with artificial grass. Members have been invited to contribute to the Court Development Fund and donations received thus far total £2,000.00. The Club is aiming to raise up to £7,500.00 through this and other fund raising activities planned for 2003.
Take part in the Wimbledon Sweepstake! For a stake of £5.00 you will be entered into a draw for one of the top 32 Men's and 32 Ladies' Wimbledon seeds. Pay outs will be made for losing semi-finalists, losing finalists and the Championship winners! Only 64 tickets available, so see a Committee Member soon. This is a fund raising event for the Court Development Fund - 62.5% of the money raised will be allocated to this fund. The sweepstake draw will take place on Saturday June 21st, after the Fun Tournament.
A weekly lottery draw is being held at the Club. Tickets can be purchased from Janice Campbell during Club Sessions, and the draw takes place on Saturday afternoons. 25% of the proceeds goes to the holder of the winning ticket; 75% is used to boost Club funds.
